Most Bookkeepers Aren’t Built for How Content Businesses Work
Your Income Comes From a Dozen Places
AdSense, sponsorships, Patreon, affiliate links, merchandise, course sales, licensing deals. Each one hits your account at a different time, for a different amount, and sometimes with a platform fee already deducted before it lands.
Your Expenses Don’t Fit Neatly Into Categories
Camera gear, editing software, your home studio, contractors you pay to edit or manage social, travel for shoots. These are real business expenses and legitimate content creator tax deductions. Getting them categorized correctly is what separates a clean tax return from a stressful one.
You’re Running a Business You Didn’t Plan For
Most creators didn’t start with a business plan. The income grew, the complexity grew, and now you’ve got a financial picture that’s genuinely hard to make sense of without a system behind it.

Clean Books Built Around How Content Businesses Actually Operate
Income and Profit Tracked by Source
Every revenue stream gets recorded separately, and monthly Profit and Loss statements show your actual profit by brand, channel, or content type using Classes in QuickBooks Online.
Production Costs Tracked and Deducted Correctly
Editors, videographers, equipment, software subscriptions, travel for shoots. These are all legitimate business deductions, and I make sure they’re categorized correctly so your CPA isn’t leaving money behind.
Everything Runs Through QuickBooks Online
All clients work in QuickBooks Online, which means cloud access from anywhere, automatic bank feeds pulling in transactions daily, and real-time numbers whenever you want them. As a Certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor, I make sure your books are set up correctly from the start.

Monthly Bookkeeping for Content Creators and Influencers
Starting at $300/month, monthly bookkeeping keeps your finances current, organized, and tax-ready all year.

I’ve Worked With Content Creators, Musicians, and Creative Professionals for Over 25 Years

I’m Melissa Whitney, Certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor with more than 25 years of financial experience, including specialized work in the entertainment industry.
I’ve seen firsthand how creative businesses earn money in ways that don’t fit neatly into standard accounting categories: advance payments from brand deals that haven’t been earned yet, platform fees that get deducted before income hits your account, contractors paid in cash or Venmo who still need a 1099 at the end of the year.
I build a system around how your specific business earns and spends, and I check in when something doesn’t look right rather than waiting for you to notice it at tax time.
Three Steps to Organized Creator Finances
Book a Free Call
We’ll talk through how your channel is structured, where your income comes from, and what your books currently look like. I’ll give you a price estimate based on your transaction volume.
Records Review
With Accountant Access to your QuickBooks Online, I’ll look at what’s there, identify any issues, and put together a clear scope of work with upfront pricing.
Proposal and Onboarding
Within 24 to 48 hours, you’ll have a detailed proposal. If it looks good, we’ll get started right away.
Your Channel Deserves Books That Are as Professional as Your Content
You’ve built something real. A bookkeeping system that actually reflects that doesn’t take long to set up, and it makes every business decision easier going forward. Whether you’re in Santa Clarita, Los Angeles, Portland, or Seattle, everything runs remotely through QuickBooks Online.

Questions YouTubers and Influencers Ask Before Getting Started
Do I need to be making a certain amount before bookkeeping is worth it?
Not really. If you’re earning income from your content and writing off expenses, organized books save you money at tax time, regardless of where you are in your growth. Most creators who start early say they wish they’d done it sooner.
I pay editors and contractors throughout the year. Do I need to file 1099s?
Yes, if you paid someone $600 or more in a calendar year, you’re required to file a 1099-NEC. I handle the whole process for $20 per form, including electronic filing with the IRS and copies sent directly to your contractors.
I've been tracking things in a spreadsheet. Can you work with that?
Yes. We can bring your existing records into QuickBooks Online and clean things up as part of onboarding.
What if I'm behind on bookkeeping?
Cleanup and catch-up services are available at custom pricing based on how far behind you are and how many accounts need to be reconciled. After the cleanup, you can move straight into monthly bookkeeping.
Do you work with creators outside California?
Yes. I work with clients in California, Oregon, and Washington through remote QuickBooks Online services. If you’re based anywhere on the West Coast, we can work together.
